Noah was sick at the end of December. We took him back to the doc to make sure everything was fine and he looked great. After he was off the antibiotics for a week, he started not feeling well again. So back to the doc he went. Guess what... another ear infection. And when he gets these ear infections, it not just his ears bothering him. He is snotty, he can't breathe, he doesn't sleep well, he doesn't have an appetite, and the list goes on. Noah started round #2 of antibiotics and started feeling better.
On day 7 of his medicine (3 more to go), Noah smelled a little funny when I woke him up. Since he was acting fine I figured he spit up a little, but he was okay, so I went ahead and took him to day care. I got a call about 9:00 am from day care saying he threw up and had some ugly diapers. I picked him up and took him home. I'd never seen him so lethargic. He was just laying in my arms barely able to open his eyes. After a couple of hours and a 102 degree temperature, we decided to take him to the doc. The doc said it was probably a virus. This all happened Friday. Guess who woke up throwing up Sunday at 2:00 a.m.??? That's right... me! Then Billy got it just a couple of hours later and when he gets a stomach bug, he gets it bad. We weren't feeling so hot on Sunday morning. We were very weak, nauseous, etc., and three people with the stomach flu all at the same time is not pretty. Needless to say, it was a rough morning.
To top it all off, Noah decided not to touch any food or drink and hadn't had a wet diaper for about 16 hours. Off to the hospital we went. Since I was not as bad off as Billy, I took care of Noah in the children's ER while Billy took himself to the adult ER. Luckily Noah didn't have to have an IV. They gave him a pill for nausea and he started to drink after that. We had to wait around several hours to make sure he kept it down, but he did and we were able to make it home without too much damage.
This all happened over a long weekend so we were mostly able to recover before going back to work and day care on Tuesday, but it's amazing how quickly you get behind on things when you're sick. So we were playing catch up for everything we missed that weekend. Yet another reason that has gotten in the way of me posting. And just in case you were concerned, I promise not to add any visuals of that weekend!

Christmas 2008
I know these posts aren't quite as good without the visuals, but the pictures are at home, so I'm going to have to add them later.
Christmas was pretty good this year. Poor Noah was sick. He was actually diagnosed with RSV, bronchiolitis, and a double ear infection on the Monday before Christmas. They put him on antibiotics so he was feeling a little better by Christmas, but he still wasn't feeling great. He was slightly more interested in his presents this year, but he was more interested in hanging out with people. My mom and sister were able to come out here for the week and he loved having them around, especially my sister... he couldn't get enough of his Aunt Kari! After Christmas, Noah's Gammy was able to come down and visit for a while, so we had Christmas #2 and a great New Year's!
That was our Christmas in a nutshell. I didn't get to take any time off from work, so it was pretty hectic for me. That, along with Noah being so sick lately, is one of the many reasons I haven't had time to post!!!

Hello Hawkins.... Goodbye Hawkins
I know that I haven't posted in such a long time. A lot of important events have come and gone in the last month and no one has any idea about what's been going on. I'm going to try and do this one short blog at a time, so since Hawkins' picture was the only thing on here for such a long time, I'll start with him.
We picked up Hawkins and he was so cute. He was a playful little pup and he loved following Billy and Noah. He actually wasn't very little; apparently he was pretty big for his age. I wonder how big he'll actually end up? Anyway, he was around for a couple of days when we realized that 1) Noah couldn't fully appreciate having a puppy, 2) Hawkins would not get all the attention he deserved, and 3) how much work it would be, especially if I'll have to take care of everyone by myself in the very near future. On a side note, Billy also thinks that Hawkins was deaf, but I think he was just a young puppy who was ignoring us. So we returned him to the shelter. He was seen in an ad on Craigslist and the ad was deleted within a day, so I'm hoping Hawkins found a wonderful and loving home. I'm still a little sad for the dog we almost had, but it will be worth it in a few years when we can watch the look on Noah's face when he gets the puppy he's been asking for!
